Rae Piper is a versatile choreographer who creates work in the fields of contemporary dance, musical theatre, opera, theatre and circus. She has created choreography for shows including Boyhood’s End for English Touring Opera (and its subsequent streaming on Marquee TV), Gloria - A Pigtale for Mahogany Opera at The Linbury, Royal Opera House, and Shadowbox - a dance/circus show commissioned by BESIX performed for the Prince of Belgium.
She often works with collaborator Paul Chantry, as the choreographic duo Piper Chantry, who are known for the Olivier Award nominated productions of Gangsta Granny and Billionaire Boy. Piper and Chantry also co-founded the contemporary company Chantry Dance for which she has co-choreographed all their work for the last 10 years. Piper is always keen to challenge herself choreographically by exploring new collaborations and methods of working. Her inspiration ranges from the simple to the elaborate - inspiration equally can be found within a commonplace, mundane detail of life, or a sophisticated mathematical equation. The excitement is in the exploration. Read Piper's full biography here. |
